It is a single appliance just for the BeyondTrust portion but not the database. BeyondTrust gives you the software, but you are in charge of setting up your own database. I wish BeyondTrust packages the whole solution in one and includes the MySQL database so that when you deploy it, it deploys everything for you. I think they should try to include more custom platforms." "When we deploy BeyondTrust, we have to deploy our own database on a SQL server. ![]() The problem is that you can scan the assets and databases inside a server, but you cannot onboard them or manage them with the smart tools. "The database instance onboarding should be simplified. More BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access Pros → It has met all of our objectives, everything from password rotation to securing and allowing us to clamp down access to the auditing and monitoring features." It's a good way of securing our privileged access." "The project goal was to allow staff to run applications with admin privileges without being admins, which was the product's most important feature." "The visibility of the solution's Vault works as it is supposed to: out-of-the-box for domain accounts, endpoints, and local accounts associated with discovery jobs." "The security provided by PRA when it comes to access for remote and privileged users has been outstanding. It allows us to discover the endpoints and user accounts that need protection. That is its biggest strength." "We like the integration with Active Directory. Nobody can see what we are doing in our remote system if they happen to be listening for unencrypted traffic. That helps us meet another compliance requirement. Multi-factor came as a feature out-of-the-box, which was big for us. ![]() ![]() That's a great feature." "The scalability is excellent." "It is a real fortress. So, it is convenient, but its main feature is that you can use your smart card to elevate your privileges remotely. As long as they have the client on them, you can get to them. You pretty much have access to computers wherever they are. You can access computers that are off the network and on the network. You can access computers that are on a DMZ. With that being the case, this solution allows us to be able to still work with our end-users, even though they're not always sitting on our network." "I like all of it. Most of the organization has gone to remote work or work from home. "We can truly elevate our admin rights while we're in there to fully take control of a system and manage it as if it was sitting right here on our desk. ![]() We did a lot of application integration using scripting." "The ability to manage privileged account passwords is the most valuable feature." "The performance is good." After gaining it, how they're using it, where they're using it, etc." "Screen recording is valuable, and integration with applications is easy. We need to ensure that accounts are securely stored and there is the right type of accountability around who is gaining the access. With other vendors, we have to create our own scripts, whereas, with BeyondTrust, we can just use the in-built Smart Rules." "It provides integrated password and session management in one solution, which is important for us because, from an auditing standpoint, we are accountable for the type of access being used. It is a nice feature in BeyondTrust that some of the other PAM vendors don't have. For example, you can do onboarding based on different AD attributes. With Smart Rules, you can do automatic onboarding of accounts. It is a unique feature that BeyondTrust has as compared to other vendors such as CyberArk. The system is recording when nobody's there, so we have a record of what's happening." "The CI/CD and REST API are also satisfactory the solution has a full PAM feature set and they all work well." "It simplifies your compliance and tracking to benchmark other credentials and analytics." "Smart Rules is a nice feature in BeyondTrust. You can pull up a report, and the UI is fantastic.
